Photographing places takes patience, bad weather, wrong turns, and a lot of waiting. This blog is where I share what actually happens out in the field — the techniques that work, the ones that don't, and everything in between.

How this all started
A camera bag, an expired train ticket, and a mountain range I had no business being on alone — that was 2018, and somehow it stuck. What began as personal documentation of remote routes turned into something more deliberate. The longer I spent in specific places, the more I understood that photographs worth keeping are rarely made quickly.
At Aywar Iuoux, I write about travel photography from a practical angle. That means real locations, real lighting conditions, and real decisions — not idealized scenarios. I cover composition under pressure, working with available light across different climates, and the quieter craft questions that don't get enough attention: how long to wait, when to move, when a shot simply isn't there.
